(1 Corinthians 9:27) "But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified."
If I were to ask you, 'Do you give up your right to yourself?' How would you respond?
To me, this would mean the ability to step away from my (constantly demanding) emotions and, instead of adding 'my' voice to the baying crowd, decide rather to follow Jesus's example and immediately seek GOD's guidance as to what needs doing.
As such, instead of insisting of working with my own flawed understanding, I would implement my faith by BELIEVING that GOD is bigger than the problem in front of me. I'm sure that just like Jesus experienced, GOD's Peaceful Presence would then flow into the situation, and we would be able to offer praise in the midst of it.
GOD, who created all our hearts, says, “Come to Me, my dear Child, and I will show you how to break free and live! Do your part and trust in Me enough to honour Me.”
