(Jeremiah 1:12) “I am watching over my word to perform it.”

This series explores how God speaks to us. Part 23: BIBLE PROPHECY

TESTIMONYTo warn about false teachings and test allegiance. 28 July 2002 — Faith Camp, Peterborough

The worship was raw and powerful. In my vision, I saw myself on parade, fully armoured — helmet, shield, sword. The Lord walked down the line, and when He got to me, He asked me to set my helmet and shield down and to give Him my sword. For a moment, my head filled with the most childish, selfish thoughts — I half expected a knightly accolade. Instead, He took the sword, pressed it to my mouth, and… cut off my tongue!

There was no pain, only a wild thud in my chest. My mind raced: had I offended Him? Sinned? I felt exposed and ashamed. The third chapter of the Book of James came to me — the power and peril of the tongue, the way a small rudder steers a great ship. After the meeting, I slunk back to my tent and for a long time sat in silence. Then, humbly and almost desperately, I felt a new longing rise up in me: “Lord, my tongue isn't worthy of You. Give me Your tongue of fire.” I asked for Pentecost — for His Spirit to fill and speak through me.

During Worship the next day, I saw the same vision. We all paraded again, and He, once again, moved down the line and stopped at me. This time, He asked for my armour. Shocked, I slowly and reluctantly handed it all over. He looked at me and said, gently but firmly, “You do not need this anymore. I will protect you.”

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, You who know the power of a single word, help me tame my tongue. Guard my speech from gossip, anger, pride, and careless boasting. Give me wisdom from above — pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits. Let my words build up, not destroy; to heal, not harm. Teach me to bridle my whole life so my speech flows from humility and love, not from selfish ambition or envy. When I am tempted to lash out, slow me; when I am tempted to flatter, convict me. Fill me with Your Spirit, so my words point others to You and reflect Your grace." Amen!
