(Isaiah 53:4) “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

This series explores how God speaks to us. Part 23: BIBLE PROPHECY

TESTIMONYTo fulfil the Covenant and Redemptive plan. January 2003. I had a vision of a narrow, roped walkway—like those lines you follow through a bank or airport—forcing everyone to move in one direction. As I watched, a man was walking down that path toward death.
He didn’t seem to notice where he was going. He walked as if ignorant of the end waiting for him. Along the way, friends would appear, calling him out from between the ropes. He’d leave them, join their revelry—sex, drink, drugs—then return to the line when he was sated.
At the far end of the ropes, he sat opposite Death, and they began to play chess. (The scene echoed that famous image from Bergman’s The Seventh Seal: a human trying to bargain time with the Reaper).
Death moved first. He took a pawn, and pain struck the man like a blow. He jumped up in agony and ran back to his friends, desperate for distraction. Each time he gave in to the comforts, he would later find himself back on the bench at the chessboard, more worn and wounded than before: dark circles under his eyes, slow movements, muddled thoughts. Death won more and more games; each loss brought deeper pain, and each pain drove him again to seek escape with his companions.
When he was almost broken, a small child appeared and introduced herself as Grace. She sat beside him and offered to help with the game.
Death did not want her there. He began to lose pieces—not because he pitied the man, but because he wanted to bait him back into the game, to distract him from the child. But the man, proud and stubborn, refused Grace’s help, thinking himself clever enough to keep playing his own way...!

The Holy Spirit is calling — check yourself. Don’t be like the man in my vision, playing your own game and refusing God's Grace.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, keep our hearts open to Your Grace, however it manifests. Help us recognise Your gentle offers of mercy and refuse the pride, fear, or distraction that would make us turn away. Give us humility to receive, faith to trust, and the courage to follow wherever You lead. Renew us each day so we never refuse Your saving love." Amen!
