(John 3: 1:21) [Jesus speaking] “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
[Continuing yesterday's theme]. Some time ago, a chap candidly revealed to me that he considers himself quite holy because he has only ever broken 'one' commandment...! I know that I struggle (daily), but this got me pondering, 'Why does the sinner opt for a life of sinful indulgence?' The answer must be that he prefers it!?!?
I can't speak for you, but I have learned that each of us chooses daily that which is in accordance with our nature, and therefore before we will ever choose (or begin to prefer that which is divine and spiritual), a whole new nature must be imparted to us - in other words, we must be born again!
And what about 'continually' sinning? Scripture is quite specific: (1 John 3:9) "No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God."
Lord, please minister Your Loving direction to all those reading this.
GOD, who created all our hearts, says, “Come to Me, my dear Child, and I will show you how to break free and live! Do your part and trust in Me enough to honour Me.”
