(Deuteronomy 31:8) “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
SERIES 9: RECEIVING FROM JESUS. 5. Receiving God’s Presence (Becoming aware that we are never truly alone.)
Following Jesus means learning to receive the Gift of His Presence. There are times when we feel lonely, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the future, and these are times when we long for someone who understands us completely and will remain beside us when life becomes difficult. God wants to be there for us – He invites us to discover that, in Him, we are never truly alone.
Receiving God’s Presence does not mean we will always feel His nearness or even understand what He is doing. Some days it may seem that our prayers are unanswered, and our circumstances don’t seem to change. Yet His presence does not depend on our feelings. Jesus has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Even when we cannot sense Him, we can trust His faithfulness. And it’s in those days that we may become so occupied with our worries and responsibilities that we allow stress to push us away from God as we try to manage everything in our own strength, overlooking the One who walks beside us.
Receiving His Presence begins when we pause, turn our attention towards Him, and welcome Him into the ordinary moments of our day. We do not need a special experience or a quiet place to meet with Him. We can speak to Him as we work, rest, travel, or care for others. We can bring Him our fears, express our gratitude, and ask for His guidance. And as we begin to acknowledge Him throughout the day, like Jesus, we’ll become more aware of His constant Presence and faithfulness.
His wisdom will guide us, His peace can steady us, and His love can reassure us that we are never alone – never forgotten.
Today, receive the gift of God’s presence. You do not have to earn it. Simply turn towards Him and trust His promise. Whatever you are facing, remember that the God who goes before you also walks with you. You are never alone – never forgotten.
