(John 14:27) "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”
Have you ever considered that both faith and fear require belief in something that has yet to happen or is not yet visible?
Fear - On the positive side, fear can be brought about by the perceived threat of danger, pain, or harm. On the negative side, fear is believing in adverse outcomes and expecting things to go wrong. In effect, fear perpetuates fear. As such, the object of fear leads to an increase in fear.
Faith - The closest definition of faith is found in Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This shows that faith's central feature in the Bible is confidence or trust in our GOD. The One who rescued 'us' from all 'our' fears. The One that 'we' gave 'our' lives to and has faithfully walked with 'us' through thick and thin. As such, the object of faith, as recorded throughout the Bible (and stamped into our hearts), is always found 'in' GOD and his promises.
GOD, who created all our hearts, says, “Come to Me, my dear Child, and I will show you how to break free and live! Do your part and trust in Me enough to honour Me.”
