(1 Peter 4:8) "Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others].”
Peter reminds us here that Christ's death atoned for and covered ALL our sins. In effect, we are ALL forgiven. Scripture confirms this (Hebrews 2:9): “Jesus tasted death for everyone,” and also (1 John 2:2), "He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”
I remember when the police caught a mass murderer in our town. As he was being paraded on TV, my heart was shouting just as loudly as the mob outside the halls of justice for his incarceration. At that point, the picture on the TV seemed to change, and instead of the vicious killer, I saw a young boy with a furry 'thing' latched onto his head with steel claws. The boy was screaming for someone to get it off his head and help him ... then the picture changed back to the original surly brute ...!
'Everyone' and 'The whole world.' That means that not one of us (who has ever lived on planet Earth) could stand in GOD's presence without condemnation if it were not for the covering death of Jesus.
Further, GOD makes it very clear that he wants ALL to be saved (Ezekiel 18:23): "Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?"
Thank GOD that salvation wasn't up to us and our emotions because, as Ambassadors for Christ, Peter calls us to extend that sin-covering love to EVERYONE. In fact, as the hands and feet of Christ, we are encouraged to show love, more love and even MORE LOVE to all that the Holy Spirit brings across our path.
GOD, who created all our hearts, says, “Come to Me, my dear Child, and I will show you how to break free and live! Do your part and trust in Me enough to honour Me.”
