(Mark 5:34) “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”

SERIES 8: BECOMING LIKE JESUS. 22. Receiving healing. (Learning to receive God’s healing with faith and trust).

Following Jesus means learning not only to ask God for healing, but also to receive what He wants to give us. Sometimes we can believe that God is able to heal others – yet struggle to believe that His healing could be for us. We may feel unworthy, uncertain, or afraid to hope.

The woman who touched Jesus’ robe had suffered for twelve years. She had tried everything and had become exhausted by her condition. Yet she came to Jesus believing that even touching His robe would be enough. Jesus did not reject her faith. He welcomed her, spoke to her personally, and told her that her faith had made her well.

Receiving healing is not about trying to persuade God to love us or earn His favour. Healing is a gift of grace. We come to Jesus honestly, bringing our weakness, our pain and our uncertainty, and we trust Him with the outcome.

Sometimes healing comes immediately. Sometimes it comes progressively. Sometimes God works through prayer, faith, medicine, doctors, rest or other means. And when healing does not come as quickly or in the way we hoped, we must not conclude that we have failed or that God has abandoned us.

Becoming like Jesus means learning to receive from Him with an open heart. We can ask boldly, believe sincerely, and place ourselves completely in His hands.

Today, bring your need for healing to Jesus. Ask Him to help you receive His grace, His strength and, according to His will, His healing.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, forgive my unbelief… Holy Spirit, open my heart and let me receive ALL that You would have for me.” Amen!!!
