(Philippians 2:5) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”

SERIES 8: BECOMING LIKE JESUS. 2. Learning to think like Jesus (Letting His mind shape ours).

Following Jesus is not simply about changing what we do. It is about allowing Him to change the way we think.

The world constantly tells us how to think. It teaches us to protect ourselves, put ourselves first, seek recognition and measure success by what we possess or achieve. Jesus shows us a completely different way.

He thought differently about greatness - He did not need to prove Himself.

He thought differently about power - He used it to serve rather than dominate.

He thought differently about people - He saw beyond appearances, reputation and social position and recognised the value of every individual.

And He thought differently about suffering - He trusted His Father even when obedience meant walking towards the cross.

Learning to think like Jesus does not happen overnight. It requires us to become increasingly aware of the thoughts and attitudes that shape our decisions. When anger rises, we ask how Jesus would respond. When someone hurts us, we consider whether we are seeking revenge or forgiveness. When success comes, we ask whether we are seeking applause or looking for an opportunity to serve.

This is not about pretending to think like Jesus. It is about allowing the Holy Spirit to reshape our thinking from the inside out.

The more we quit wanting what we want and instead get to appreciate Jesus as being our 'all-in-all', the more clearly we begin to recognise the difference between His way and ours.

And gradually, almost imperceptibly, His thoughts begin to influence our thoughts, His priorities become our priorities, and His ways begin to become our ways.

Following Jesus means more than walking behind Him. It means learning to see the world through His eyes.

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father I've fought to have so many 'things' in my life, and most of them have proven worthless... help me Lord to see you as my 'all-in-all' ..." Amen!
