Part 6: WHAT’S IN IT FOR US? - 26. Justice impulse (a heart for mercy moves you to stand for the vulnerable).
The closer you walk with Jesus, the harder it becomes to ignore people who are hurting.
Before Christ changes us, it's easy to think, "Someone else will deal with that." But the Holy Spirit gently reshapes our hearts until we begin to notice what God notices. We start seeing the lonely, the overlooked, the bullied, the forgotten and the vulnerable—not as problems to avoid, but as people to love.
Jesus never looked the other way. He welcomed children when others dismissed them. He touched lepers that everyone else avoided. He defended the woman caught in adultery when others wanted to condemn her. Again and again, He moved towards those society had pushed aside.
When Jesus lives in us, His compassion begins to become our compassion.
This doesn't mean becoming angry about everything or constantly arguing online. Biblical justice is much deeper than winning debates. It starts with mercy. It asks, "How can I reflect God's love in this situation?" Sometimes that means speaking up for someone who cannot speak for themselves. Sometimes it means giving your time, your money or simply your attention to someone who feels invisible.
God has always cared deeply about the vulnerable, and His people are called to do the same. Justice without love becomes harsh. Mercy without truth becomes weak. But when both come together in Christ, lives are changed.
The amazing thing is that the Holy Spirit doesn't simply tell us to care - He gives us a new heart that actually wants to.
The more we follow Jesus, the less our lives revolve around ourselves. We begin to notice needs instead of inconveniences, people instead of problems, and opportunities instead of interruptions.
That's one of the beautiful changes God brings about in every growing Christian.
Justice isn't about proving you're right. It's about reflecting the heart of a Saviour who came to seek, serve and rescue those who needed Him most.
