Part 5: THE MAGNIFICENCE OF GOD AND HIS DEITY - 2. God’s Holiness (The beauty of otherness, purity, and moral perfection that shapes worship and repentance).
Holiness means God is utterly pure, set apart from everything broken and ordinary. It isn’t a religious label, but the atmosphere of the throne room. Remember how Isaiah’s vision in the temple left him breathless and confessing his sin (Isaiah 6:1–5). Moses removed his sandals at the burning bush because God’s presence made the ground holy (Exodus 3:5). Around the throne, angels cry “Holy, holy, holy” without end (Revelation 4:8). These encounters aren’t antique curiosities; they teach how we stand before a very present God who is supremely good and gloriously other.
That otherness is beautiful, not distant or cold. God’s purity shows us what true goodness looks like and calls us out of casual faith into honest wonder. The New Testament command “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15–16) is not a checklist to earn love but an invitation to reflect the life we’ve been given. Holiness shapes worship and life: it quickens confession, moulds our sense of justice, and offers mercy..!
Meeting God’s holiness reorients us. We stop treating people as resources and begin to see them as image-bearers (James 3:9). We choose truth over comfort and repentance over excuses. Holiness isn’t about performance; it’s about transformation—our desires, choices, and affections being remade by the beauty of God.
Practically: slow down in prayer and Scripture. Read Isaiah 6 and Revelation 4 aloud; let the silence between the phrases hold you. Make confession specific and honest. Serve where needs are unseen, not only where applause follows. Let music and worship that hold mystery and grandeur shape your heart.
When holiness returns to the centre of devotion, worship deepens, sin is seen clearly, and our lives begin to mirror, in small measure, the purity and love of the One who alone is perfectly holy.
