Part 3: WE MAY LET GO... BUT GOD NEVER WILL — 13. Suffering and Trials (brokenness, discouragement)
I got this from our brother Julian yesterday afternoon, and it fits perfectly...
Corrie ten Boom lived in the Netherlands with her family during World War II. Outraged by Nazi atrocities, they built a concealed closet-sized room in Corrie’s bedroom, quietly collected food cards and hid Jews in their home. That hiding place helped roughly 800 people evade capture. Eventually, Corrie, her sister Betsie, and their father were arrested and sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp.
Even amid the camp’s horrors, Corrie and Betsie sensed God’s presence. One freezing morning, as they were being marched out for roll call, they passed the outlines of barracks, the crematorium and gas chamber to their right, and watchtowers with armed guards to their left. In that valley of death, they prayed. Corrie later wrote, “We were three as we walked with the Lord and talked with him. Betsie spoke. Then I spoke. Then the Lord spoke. How? I do not know. But both of us understood.”
Betsie called it “a bit of Heaven,” saying that though they would one day see God face-to-face, even then He gave them the joy of walking and talking with Him. Betsie died in Ravensbrück; Corrie was released because of a clerical error and lived to share their story worldwide.
They literally walked through the valley of the shadow of death and found a slice of heaven in communion with God. Such peace is incomprehensible to the world but real for those who belong to the Shepherd. Whatever valley you face today, remember: He walks with you — so you need not fear.

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father, I read this testimony and all my fears seem so small and insignificant in comparison - and yet You still want to commune with me and remove them. Help me, Lord, to trust You and share Your Heart as our sister Corrie ten Boom did." Amen!
