Part 3: WE MAY LET GO... BUT GOD NEVER WILL — 2. Loving Christian Community (evidence of God’s work through relationships)
A while ago, we received an invitation from Matteo, a dear friend we had met during our time at Bible College in 2004, to join him and his lovely new wife, Rosella, for a Christmas getaway in the picturesque North of Italy. The thought of spending the holiday skiing in such a beautiful setting filled us with excitement and anticipation.
Sunday came while we were in Modena, ready to drive north, and we all went to a wonderful service led by Pastor Giorgio. We were soaking in the worship, and the band were just finishing when the main door flew open, and a man stumbled in carrying a very young, unconscious, fragile woman in his arms. Right behind him came a pale, sheepish young man who looked terrified and gawped around at us as if we were all from another planet.
As guests, we were seated beside the pastor, and when he saw the girl, he asked if we could move up a bit to make room. Throughout the service, the evangelist stayed holding the unconscious woman, gently rocking her in his arms. (We later learned he was an evangelist who’d found the pair in the street after a drug-fuelled, satanic gathering.)
I heard the Pastor praying for the woman in English, just loud enough for us to hear, and we joined in, ‘sotto voce.’ He was taking authority over whatever was happening to the young lady and asking GOD to intervene. At that point, I 'saw' what can only be described as a big, black, horrible-looking, slimy, slug-like thing appear on the girl’s face. Its mouth looked to be buried deep in her ear, and its rear end deep into her mouth! (Think of an old-fashioned telephone receiver.) I leaned over and shared my vision of knowledge with the Pastor, and between us, we cursed this thing every shade of awful and commanded it to leave her in the Powerful Name of Jesus!
Her eyes suddenly flew open, and she sat bolt upright, taking everything in at once. You could see she wanted to flee like a terrified cat, but just as she tensed, an unbelievably calm, honey‑sweet Peace seemed to descend on us all. Rather than run, she just folded forward onto her knees and began to worship and thank GOD for His mercy!
We later discovered that the devil had been using the young woman as his mouthpiece, to “hear” and “speak” his words of death and corruption. (Ergo, the 'telephone' thing …)

Let’s pray, "Heavenly Father, please give me Your eyes and Your heart to be able to see what’s going on around me and please Holy Spirit, feed me Your Words and Wisdom in order to set the captives free..." Amen!
