(Mark 10:45; Luke 2:11) "Saviour / Redeemer — one who gives his life for others."
Part 1: WHO DOES JESUS SAY HE IS — Our Saviour (Redeemer)
Scripture teaches us that Jesus called Himself by many names. Let's explore a few together: Saviour (Redeemer). Son of Man. Son of God. I am. Messiah (Christ). Lord (King). Rabbi (Teacher). Judge.
“Saviour” speaks for itself, but I found the truth of the word “Redeemer” while researching a book. Jesus, our Redeemer, stepped willingly into our mess and paid the cost to set each of us free. In Jesus, that redeeming rescue is personal: it breaks the grip and guilt of what has wrecked you and restores your standing before God. It draws you into a loving relationship — legal in that you’re forgiven and justified, yet profoundly relational and practical: you are welcomed, known and given a new purpose.
Redemption changes us from the inside out. It softens hard places, turns us away from destructive habits and false comforts, and fills us with new desires — peace with God, gratitude, love for others, and the courage to live differently. That inward work is the Holy Spirit’s: applying Christ’s rescue to our hearts, convicting, comforting, and reshaping our wants and will (see Ezekiel 36:26; Romans 5:5; Galatians 5:22–23).
As our assurance grows in the relationship, so does ongoing change—our hearts are being remade toward worship, trust, and obedience.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to step into our mess and pay the cost to set us free. Soften the hard places of our hearts. Break the grip of guilt and selfishness, restore our standing before You so that we can run again into Your loving presence. Fill us with new desires—peace with You, gratitude, love for others, and the courage to live differently. Holy Spirit, apply this rescue within us: convict, comfort, and reshape our wants and will. Remake our hearts toward worship, trust, and obedience." Amen!
