(Matthew 25:31) "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats."
Part 1: WHO DOES JESUS SAY HE IS — Son of Man
When Jesus calls himself the “Son of Man,” he uses a simple phrase that is full of meaning. First, it says, I am one of you. It stresses his true humanity — he knew hunger and weariness, grief and joy. He did not stand aloof from our struggles and pain; he entered them.
Second, it tells of suffering that leads to rescue. Jesus uses the title to name the path he must walk: humble service, rejection, death — and then rising again. The Son of Man is the one who suffers on 'our' behalf and turns suffering into the way of salvation.
Third, it points to vindication and hope. The same “one like a son of man” in Daniel, who is granted everlasting authority, becomes the one who will come in glory, bring justice, and gather God’s people. So the title holds both the sorrow of the cross and the triumph that follows.
Finally, it is relational and representative. Jesus is the true human — he stands with us, bears our burdens, and restores what we were meant to be. In that single phrase, he balances humility and honour, identification and authority: he is our companion in the struggle and the one who will make all things right.
In short: “Son of Man” means he is fully with us in our weakness, he willingly suffers for our sake, and he will be gloriously vindicated to bring God’s Kingdom.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, thank You for sending our Lord Jesus as the Son of Man. Thank You that He entered our weakness and bore our burdens. Help us trust in all He did for us as our rescue, and help us to follow His humble way, and hold fast to the hope of His coming vindication. Make us more like Him — compassionate, steady, and faithful — until He comes and makes all things right.” Amen!
