(1 Thessalonians 4:16) “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a commanding shout…”
SERIES 7: WALKING WITH JESUS - “How do I now live because I belong to Christ?” 30. Until He Comes (Walking faithfully today because we love and long to see Jesus face to face).
Following Jesus is a journey that continues until the day we get to see Him face to face.
We live with our feet firmly planted in today, but our hearts are looking towards that day. Jesus promised that He would come again, and that promise changes the way we live now. We are not simply waiting for something to happen. We are faithfully following Him while we wait.
Following Jesus means being faithful in the ordinary things of life. It means choosing obedience when no one is watching. It means loving when it would be easier to walk away. It means forgiving when we have been hurt, serving when we receive no recognition, and trusting God when we cannot see what lies ahead.
This particular series has hopefully shown us there will be days when the journey feels long. There will be disappointments, unanswered questions and moments when we wonder how much longer we can keep going. But our hope is not based on how strong we feel. Our hope is based on the faithfulness of Jesus.
One day, our faith will transform to sight. One day, we will no longer see Him through the eyes of faith. We will see Him as He is. The One we have trusted, followed and loved will stand before us, and every sacrifice, every act of obedience and every difficult step will finally be seen in the light of His presence. Until then, we keep walking...
We don't need to know the exact day or hour. We simply need to remain faithful today.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep your heart ready. Keep serving. Keep loving. Keep trusting.
And when the road feels difficult, remember where the journey is taking you. Jesus is coming. And when He comes, we will see Him as He is, face to face.

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water... (Psalm 63:1)." Amen!
