‭(Romans 13:14) "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires."

Part 4: RECURRING TACTICS THE TEMPTER USES — 6. Sensual temptations (encouraging indulgence in bodily pleasures to weaken spiritual appetite)

Sensual temptation promises pleasure, but its real aim is to steal our hunger for God. It takes good gifts—food, touch, beauty, rest—and turns them into ends in themselves, training the body to crave more while the soul grows hungry. The tempter uses novelty, secrecy, and quick thrills to pull us from abiding in Christ, knowing that repeated indulgence dulls conviction, harms intimacy with God, and leaves a restless emptiness only He can fill.

If the Holy Spirit is telling you that sensual cravings are shaping your choices, stop now and name them before God; honesty is the first step toward freedom. Then...

  • (James 5:16) Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. Invite their prayer and accountability.
  • Remove or limit triggers (apps, media, places, or the person); create distance between impulse and action.
  • Replace a habitual indulgence with a soul‑nourishing practice (Scripture, worship, silence) for a sustained season.

Freedom looks like a rescued appetite—when your desires are reordered around Christ, fleeting pleasures lose their power, and deeper joy follows. The ONLY test is to fast for a while from the related pleasure to see whether you serve it or it serves you!

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, please show me who I'm serving. Have I made my stomach my god, my fears, my reasonings? Help me, Lord, I want to get out from under this.” Amen!
