(Isaiah 46:9-11) God declares the end from the beginning: “My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.”
This series explores how God speaks to us. Part 23: BIBLE PROPHECY
Let's explore a few passages of Scripture that show why God speaks prophetic direction to us.
- To reveal God’s character and purposes — Prophecy shows God knows the future and is sovereign (Isaiah 46:9–10; Psalm 33:11).
- To call people to repentance and warn of consequences — Prophets urge change so disaster might be avoided (Jonah; Ezekiel; Amos).
- To comfort and give hope — Promises about restoration, a coming king, and a new creation encourage people in hard times (Isaiah 40–66; Revelation 21–22).
- To guide decisions and direct history — Prophecy shapes God’s people and sometimes nations, directing the course of events toward his purposes (Daniel; Acts 2).
- To confirm God’s promises and build faith — When prophecies come true, they validate God’s trustworthiness and inspire faith (Luke 24; Romans 4).
- To warn about false teachings and test allegiance — Prophetic truth helps distinguish authentic from counterfeit voices (Deuteronomy 18:20–22; 1 John 4).
- To fulfil the covenant and redemptive plan — Many prophecies point to the Messiah and the work of salvation, showing continuity in God’s plan (Micah 5:2; Isaiah 53).
- To motivate holy living and justice — Future judgment and reward call people to live rightly and pursue justice (Matthew 25; Amos).
I'll start weaving some encouraging testimonies into these points starting tomorrow. If you have any that fit, please send them to me as soon as possible.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, You alone are God — the one who is Great and Glorious, who remembers what is past and declares the end from the beginning. You accomplish Your purposes, and nothing can thwart Your will. Help us to trust Your Sovereign plans when we cannot see the way ahead. Strengthen our hearts to rest in Your faithfulness, give us courage to follow where You lead, and align our desires with Your purposes. Use Your mighty word to comfort the fearful, to steady the wavering, and to bring hope to those who wait on You. May we live confidently under Your hand, knowing that what You have spoken You will surely do." Amen!
