(Numbers 23:19) “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it?"
This series explores how God speaks to us. Part 23: BIBLE PROPHECY
TESTIMONY: This is how God spoke to me and revealed both His Character and Purposes … I once ran a technology company, and for years we chased the same big government client. After countless attempts, we finally landed a meeting with a senior executive. We waited in reception, our nerves and hope all buzzing, when a message came through: she was running very late. Fifteen minutes later, a woman stormed into reception — frantic, shouting at the security guards, then she stormed toward the elevators, hammering the buttons until she disappeared.
We all watched, bewildered. Then I heard my Technical Director mutter, “That’s her…!”
Moments later, the receptionist came over, apologetic. The lady wouldn’t see us — she had a personal emergency. My chest dropped; we’d prepared so hard for this moment. As we gathered to leave, I heard the Lord speak to me: “Go and help her.”
All my crew got up to leave — I stayed. I called a contact I knew in the building, and he somehow arranged for us to meet together with her and her team in the canteen. The atmosphere was tense — two teams eyeing each other over coffee — but then, suddenly, she turned to me, grabbed my arm, and broke down in tears, “My brother has just been diagnosed with cancer. Why would God do that to him?”
My (God’s) heart broke, and I found myself telling her, simply and honestly, how I’d met God through Jesus and how I’d found Him faithful, even in my darkest seasons. Through tears and messy grief, she told me how she, too, had faith as a young woman, but life and work had pulled her away. We talked for over an hour, right there in front of both teams — probably looking a little mad, I imagine — but the conversation was real and tender.
In that unexpected, painful moment, God showed up. The meeting turned into something far bigger than a business pitch: a small room of people witnessed compassion, and everything that followed worked out in ways none of us could have planned or even imagined.
Hearing His voice is only the beginning — it’s not enough to listen; we must obey. Sometimes that looks like stepping away when anger flares, and He says: “Don’t get angry — walk away now.” Sometimes it means protecting your future: “Don’t waste your finances on that — you’ll only regret it later.” Other times it’s a warning to leave a place that will slowly tear you apart: “This place isn’t good for you — it will destroy you.” Or it’s an invitation to a whole new way of living: “Come, follow Me, and I will show you LIFE and how to truly live.” Listening opens the door — doing is what brings the promise to life.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, You are faithful and true — not a man that You should lie, nor a son of man that You should change Your mind. Thank You that Your promises are certain and Your purposes steadfast. Help me to trust Your unchanging character when doubts press in, to rest in Your faithfulness when plans shift, and to wait patiently for Your timing. Strengthen my faith to hold fast to Your word, and give me courage to live in the confidence of Your sure promises." Amen!
