Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored. (‭Rom‬ ‭8‬:‭5).

Reading this instinctively brings to mind one of the classic 'warning' poems ...

“As children bring their broken toys

With tears for us to mend,

I brought my broken dreams to GOD

because He is my Friend.

But then, instead of leaving Him

In peace to work alone,

I hung around, and tried to help,

With ways that were ‘my’ own!

At last, I snatched them back and cried,

How can You be so slow?

"My child", He said, "what could I do...?"

You never did let go!!”

Let go, Child of God. Let go!

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
