(Romans 10:17) “So faith comes from hearing [what is told]...”
I was sulking... I didn't want to pray or talk to GOD (or anyone else, for that matter). Nothing was going right for me, so I decided to get away from it all and took our dog for a long walk into the forest.
After about an hour of thinking over my problems (again, and again, and again...) and trying to work through them using 'my' logic, I spotted it.
A large dead bird lay flat in the bushes on its back about two metres away. Its head was turned sideways, and it had its wings splayed out in death. Normally, I'd walk right past, but something drew me towards it, and I stopped and stared at it. It was quite dead alright, and its eyes already had that dull glazed-over look.
As I stared, I suddenly heard GOD's Voice say gently, "Command it to live." I baulked, not just because I'd heard His Voice but also because I (stupidly) thought that if I weren't talking to GOD, then He wouldn't want to talk to me either! I knelt beside it on one knee, touched its wing gently, and sheepishly (and quietly) said, "I command you to live in Jesus' Name." The bird suddenly shot up and passed by my cheek as if it had been shot from a cannon! Was I frightened...? YES!!!!
The Lord then said, "I am the Lord, and I am not subject to your moods! My Word counts no matter what you're feeling!"
Please pray with me ... "My dear Lord Jesus, I come to you now to be restored in you, renewed in you, to receive your life, your love, and all the grace and mercy I so desperately need. I ask forgiveness for giving in to my sulky moods and listening to my stupid feelings. I want to honour you as my Lord, surrendering every aspect and dimension of my life to you again. Amen!
