(Mark 5:34) “He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’

SERIES 9: RECEIVING FROM JESUS. 11. Receiving God’s Healing (Learning to receive God’s healing with faith and trust.)

Following Jesus means learning to bring our pain, weakness and need for healing to Him with faith and trust. Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus constantly meeting people who were suffering. Some had lived with illness for years. Others came to Him in desperation, having exhausted every other possibility. Jesus welcomed them. He saw their suffering, understood their fears and always responded with compassion.

In Mark 5, we read about a woman who had suffered for twelve years. She had spent everything she had seeking a cure, but her condition had only grown worse. Hearing about Jesus, she believed that even touching His garment could make her well. When she reached out in faith, Jesus stopped, acknowledged her and spoke words of peace to her.

Her story reminds us that we should come to Jesus honestly, bringing Him the things that trouble us most. We do not need to pretend that we are strong – or that we have no fear. He already knows our circumstances, and He invites us to trust His love for us.

Receiving healing doesn’t mean that we can demand a particular outcome or that every illness will disappear immediately. Sometimes healing comes through time and the care of others. Sometimes our circumstances remain difficult, and we must continue trusting God through them. Whatever happens, His presence and grace remain available to us.

Today, bring your need to Jesus. Ask Him for healing, strength and peace. Trust Him with what you cannot control, and allow others to support you along the way. Faith is not pretending that we’re never ill; it is turning towards Jesus in the midst of our need.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, my favourite scene in the Passion of Christ is when Jesus’s mother hears his cry and runs to him … THIS is how I picture You Lord. Whenever we are hurting You will always hear and come running.” Amen!
