(Isaiah 40:29) “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.”

SERIES 9: RECEIVING FROM JESUS. 7. Receiving God’s strength (Learning to depend on God when our own strength is not enough.)

Following Jesus means learning to receive His strength when we reach the limits of our own. There are times when life leaves us exhausted, discouraged, or unable to face what lies ahead. We may try to keep going through sheer determination, believing we must find the strength within ourselves to manage everything. Yet God never intended us to carry every burden alone. He invites us to turn to Him and receive the strength we cannot produce for ourselves.

Receiving God’s strength does not mean we will never feel weak, tired, or overwhelmed. It means recognising that our weakness does not disqualify us from His help. Often, it is when we admit that we cannot manage in our own strength that we become more willing to depend on His. The Apostle Paul learned this truth when the Lord told him, “My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). God does not always remove our difficulties, but He can give us the grace to endure them and the courage to take the next step.

Receiving His strength begins when we stop pretending that we have everything under control. We can bring Him our weariness, fears, and responsibilities that seem too heavy for us. Through prayer, Scripture, and quiet trust, we learn to depend less on our own ability and more on His faithfulness. Sometimes His strength comes as renewed courage; sometimes it comes as patience, wisdom, or peace to continue when we cannot yet see the way forward.

We do not need to be strong enough for every challenge today. We need to trust the One who promises to sustain us. His strength is not limited by our weakness, and His faithfulness does not fail when our energy runs out.

Today, receive the strength Jesus offers. Stop striving to do everything alone. Bring Him what feels too much for you, and trust Him to provide what you need for this day. When your own strength is not enough, His grace is sufficient.
