(2 Corinthians 5:7) “For we live by faith, not by sight.”

SERIES 8: BECOMING LIKE JESUS. 15. Walking by faith (Trusting God even when we cannot see what lies ahead).

Following Jesus means learning to trust God even when we can’t see what lies ahead. Having Faith in God doesn’t mean that we understand everything – or that we know how every situation will turn out – it simply means rejecting the fear that comes against us and deliberately choosing to trust the One who does.

Faith doesn’t remove uncertainty. It changes how we face it. Instead of allowing fear of the unknown to control us, we learn to run to God and place our future into His loving hands.

Yes, there will be times when the road ahead seems uncertain. Yes, there will be times when we do not know what decision to make, where a particular path will lead – or even why God has allowed something to happen. But faithfully loving Him means taking the next step without having the whole journey mapped out…!

What can we do? Well, we can draw close to Him in prayer, seek His wisdom, worship Him and absorb His loving Words in Scripture, and even though we accept that we cannot see everything that God sees, we can trust Him to help us make responsible decisions.

Sometimes God gives us a clear direction. At other times, He gives us only enough light for the next step. That can be frustrating, but it is meant to deepen our dependence on Him.

Walking by faith means saying, “I may not know what is ahead, but I know Who walks with me.”

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father I pray for whoever is reading this to have that ‘assurance’ that You are there with them in this season. That You have plans to bless them by restoring all that the locusts have eaten…” Amen!
