I’ve never met anyone who started following Jesus and didn’t get upset with him at some point about his choices or direction. We all think we know best, don’t we? Our prayers can sound pious, but God judges the intents of our hearts (1 Sam. 16:7)—he hears the inner childish tantrum: “I want this girl, this job, this car, this house.” Maybe your faith has never cooled completely, but I’ve known many who did and who walked the way of the lost sheep.
TESTIMONY - "We lost everything. With no income, I couldn’t keep up with the mortgage, and the bank initiated foreclosure proceedings. Even if we’d tried to downsize, the country was in recession, houses weren’t selling, and the Lord felt silent. The easy faith I once had was being tested—first for days, then weeks, then months...
It’s easy to believe God when you have more than enough, but when faith is stretched through a long season of trouble, it’s a different matter. I went from driving a big, black, private‑plate Mercedes to walking everywhere. From having more money than I could use, to being quite broke.
I’d never been unemployed—I’d worked steadily since my school days—but now, in a depressed northern economy, my skills had limited value. Then the Lord opened a door for me to work at what I could do: I put on overalls and offered general maintenance, painting, and decorating. Money started coming in again. It wasn’t flooding in as before, but it was enough, and best of all, the pressures I’d been under lifted. My heart began to see this was for my good, and, like a turtle emerging from its shell, I repented of my sulking (and pride) and stepped into a new, vibrant communion with God."

Let’s pray, "Heavenly Father, is this me? If it is, then I don’t need another 'fix-it' prayer; I need a heart that will surrender all to you and trust You for the outcome ..." Amen!
