(Revelation 3:15–16) "I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth."

Part 2: THINGS THAT TRIP UP CHRISTIANS — 3Lukewarm Faith / Complacency (Settling for limp, middle‑of‑the‑road faith instead of going after wholehearted devotion)

Basically, lukewarmness trips Christians up by swapping a passionate pursuit of Christ for an easy, more comfortable routine.

When faith turns into a habit with no bite—more about looking good or keeping things easy than the costly discipleship Jesus calls for—it kills spiritual hunger and stops us growing.

Lukewarm faith cools prayer, deadens worship, and settles for appearances. It breeds indifference that tolerates compromise, lets people drift, and prefers comfort over costly obedience—so you end up with a church and souls that look alive but aren’t bearing fruit.

Watch out: getting comfortable kills your witness and can bring judgment. When faith is just rituals or a club instead of a surrendered life, hurting people and seekers feel ignored. A complacent heart goes numb and trusts routine instead of depending on Jesus and the Spirit.

Practical steps: admit your apathy and repent. Get back to the basics—daily Bible, honest prayer, and confession. Rekindle love for Jesus by reminding yourself what the Gospel cost and how it rescued you! (Rev. 3:15–16; Luke 9:23–25). Live it out through visible service, sacrificial giving, and mission. Plug into an accountable, Gospel-centred group that calls you out. Practice disciplines that depend on the Spirit—fasting, silence, Scripture memory, regular confession—and judge growth by love for Christ and others, not comfort or routine.

Let’s pray, Heavenly Father, is this me? If it is, then I come confessing my cold heart and easy compromises. Forgive me for settling for comfort, for choosing routine over radical devotion, and for trusting habit more than Your Presence. Awaken in me a holy hunger for You. Reignite my passionate love, deepen my repentance, and restore unto me the joy of my salvation." Amen!
