Day 141

TESTIMONY: “It was a cold, wet Sunday, and (as usual), we were very late getting to Church. By the time we’d sorted all the kids into their various groups and managed to find a seat ourselves, the service had already begun, and I could feel my anger-fuelled stress rising when I realised that I was sat right behind a young mother with big, frizzy hair – I couldn’t see a thing! In fact, I was so put off by this regular ‘arrive late Sunday routine’ that I couldn’t think of anything else throughout the service and decided that I was going to severely lay the law down with my family when we got home.

Day 140

It was a cold day as I waited for the last of the stragglers to come, and as I stood outside enjoying the worship, I noticed a young woman approaching the church that we hadn’t seen for a while. I was preparing myself to greet her, but as she got close, she suddenly stopped, looked up, down, and around, turned on her heel, and went back the way she came.

Day 139

Q: What is communion? The English word “communion” comes from the Latin communio (sharing in common), which was used by early translators of the Bible to translate the ancient Greek word koinonia. The Root Word: Koinos is the ancient Greek adjective koinos, which means “common,” “public,” or “shared by all” So, the word “Communion” comes from the Greek word “to give thanks,” which makes sense because in communion, we give thanks for what Jesus has done for us.

Day 137

I used to buy drugs from two people who lived near me. One day, I heard they’d suddenly become Jesus freaks, and all my druggie friends warned me to stay away. What none of us knew was that God had told them to pray for everyone still caught up in drinking and drugs. Later, I learned they’d been praying for my partner, my young daughter, and me. Long story short: my daughter and I got saved, and my partner left.

Day 136

“I arose slowly, heading to the pulpit, my wife’s voice ringing in my ears, “… remember, you’re doing this for the Lord!” I turned my head and took in all the faces, then I said, “God has just told me that He is coming to Church. Today!”

Day 133

“I was at Church on Saturday for a sermon on evangelism and volunteered to be the “unbeliever” on stage. As I left, I misjudged the drop, jumped from the lower stage and — wham, I shredded my Achilles tendon. Isn’t life strange? I was in Church — so why me?

Day 161

I was invited to a Catholic charismatic service by a wonderful priest friend. The place was packed, and I sat in an aisle seat and watched as a mother came in pushing her teenage daughter in a wheelchair — I later learned the girl was deaf and had recently suffered a stroke, as half her face had fallen. Something rose in me and, throughout the service, I hassled God for a miracle.
