(Psalm 51) "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!"
Part 4: RECURRING TACTICS THE TEMPTER USES — 6. Sensual temptations (encouraging indulgence in bodily pleasures to weaken spiritual appetite)
TESTIMONY: I picked my friend up from Heathrow after a preaching trip to the U.S. and noticed a HUGE golden ring on his finger (about the size of a small fridge). “How on earth did you get that?” I asked.
He told me. He’d been invited to lead worship at a particular pastor’s church. Mid‑service, though caught up in the music, he felt the Holy Spirit urging him to stop and listen. At first, it was a whisper; then it became a clear, booming word: “Tell the pastor that if he doesn’t stop his affair with the lady on the keyboard, I will take him home.”
He hesitated, then raised his hands to interrupt the worship. His voice trembled: “Pastor, I believe I have a private word from the Lord.” The pastor—sweating and dancing like David—turned to embrace the congregation and challenged him, “We are all family here. Say it!” My friend pleaded with him for a private audience, but when the Pastor wouldn't listen, he knelt and said the words exactly as he’d been told.
Silence fell so intense you could hear a pin drop—until the keyboardist ran screaming from the sanctuary. The pastor collapsed, convulsing and crying out. Elders rushed him into a side room where there was a long, awful struggle—screaming, things breaking—until finally a hush returned...!
The elders brought the pastor back, dishevelled and weeping. He knelt, begged his wife’s forgiveness, asked the congregation’s forgiveness, and asked the elders to care for him. Then, at the end, he thanked my friend for his faithfulness and, astonishingly, removed his massive ring and placed it on my friend’s finger.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, I can see from this that You would much rather bring my sins into the light than leave me wandering through deep darkness for eternity. Psalm 51 comes to mind ... Create in me a new heart, and have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions... Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight..." Amen!
