(John 12:25) [Jesus speaking] “The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to me, will find true life and enjoy it forever!
Part 3: WE MAY LET GO... BUT GOD NEVER WILL — 12. Choosing Jesus (daily placing Christ first, personal surrender)
TESTIMONY: I was enjoying watching my grandchildren play in the swimming pool on a particularly hot day. My four-year-old grandson was leaping in with enthusiasm, splashing his older sisters and making quite the scene, as young boys do. The eldest, at eight, was practising her dives and backflips while the middle sister cheered her on from the shallow end, tentatively making sure her armbands were still in place.
Everyone repeatedly called her to join them, but she refused us all.
Eventually, her mother playfully approached her pretending to be a crocodile and, gently placing her on her back, swam slowly to the middle of the pool. My granddaughter was still clinging tightly, but now screaming with laughter!
This playful cycle continued until, finally, my granddaughter found the courage to let go of her mother and venture out on her own. The rest, as they say, is history.
Jesus invites us, "If you want to be my disciple, follow me, and you will go where I am going. The Father will shower his favour upon your life" (John 12:25).
Following Jesus isn’t as daunting as we might think. It’s the path to true life and God's favour.

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father, like the Apostle Peter, I too want to leave the boat and abandon myself to you ... please forgive all my 'but what if's' and help me to step out in faith." Amen!
