(Matthew 18:10) “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven."
Part 3: WE MAY LET GO... BUT GOD NEVER WILL — 5. Prayer (Renewed dependence and confession)
TESTIMONY - "I arose slowly, heading to the pulpit, my wife's voice ringing in my ears, "... remember, you're doing this for the Lord!" When I got there, I turned my head and took in all the faces, and told everyone, "God has just told me that He is coming to Church. Today!"
I'd been praying but still had no word to give. As I stood there, the Lord told me to turn to John 15:16, and I read, "You did not choose me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other."
I felt the Lord's presence manifest behind me as I spoke the Scripture. I turned and saw Him clearly. I fell to my knees and began to cry, wiping my hands down my trousers because I felt so unclean. Suddenly, I saw my wife, Tracey, before me. She took my hand and helped me up. I composed myself and finally said, "Let's forget the sermon, shall we. Is there anyone here that needs the Lord?"
Silence was finally broken with the scraping of a chair. A woman led her son to the front. Her red-rimmed eyes and puffy face said everything. The boy, maybe eight or nine, wore a full-body cast — I learned later that he’d broken his back. The woman’s husband gingerly followed his wife, leading a shy little girl of around two or three.
I had no idea what to do, so I held my hand just above the boy's head and began to pray. After a few seconds, I felt the boy bounce up to touch my hand. I opened my eyes in surprise — he was bouncing like a basketball. The mother shot me a laser-beam look (that was probably taught at the same school that my wife attended). After a few seconds, the boy suddenly dropped back as if pulled by a rope. Chaos threatened as chairs scattered, and now ALL the women in the congregation were giving me the laser-beam look!
The Pastor seized the moment, leapt to his feet and shouted, "Wednesday evening is the time for the healing service..." He never finished his sentence as his voice was drowned out by the boy, screaming, "Maman, maman, la douleur est complètement partie!" (Mummy. Mummy. The pain has completely gone!) Body cast and all, he ran to his parents, and they embraced.
The boy's sister (the little girl with big, doe eyes) watched me throughout. The Lord said, "Tell her that I heard her prayers."
