Part 3: WE MAY LET GO... BUT GOD NEVER WILL — 3. Conviction of the Spirit (inner prompting toward repentance)
I once had the honour of preaching at a service in the south of France where GOD came to Church!
The Church was extremely broken. The Pastor was doing his best to hold it all together, but all his efforts just turned people off, and he ended up a control freak with the result that there were so many empty seats around that you'd have thought we'd all arrived an hour early!
Where there used to be around 60 vibrant young people attending each week, there was now only a handful - and their sullen faces spoke volumes. Long story short ... Jesus wanted to come and redeem His Church!
I spoke the Word that the Lord had placed into my heart, and after the first miracle happened to the young son of a beautiful family, I gave the altar call. The Pastor’s estranged son then got up from the back and sullenly stood before me (I later found that he'd given up on Church, got into drugs and hadn't attended for a long time).
This then is his story as recorded, "I stood before the preacher and with my mind said to GOD, I suppose you want me to repent? The preacher's eyes burned into me - my Soul. The Preacher spoke and said, I don't need your resentful repentance. At that, he started moving away from me to the next person in line! Something in me jumped at this, and I grabbed his sleeve and dragged him back. With my mind again, I blurted, Do you know what's in my mind? Once again, the preacher looked deep into me and, speaking gently but firmly, said, I know what's in your mind, I know what’s in your heart, and I know what’s in your pocket! (I was carrying many drugs)!
GOD came to Church and … YES – people were miraculously set free from the toxic dependencies that bound them! YES – people were miraculously healed from terrible diseases – mental, physical and spiritual! YES – people were wonderfully and magnificently redeemed and loved …!
I’m not boasting about being a great speaker, being “holy,” or claiming credit for making anything happen. It’s simply this: how amazing is the God who longs to set His people free—inviting us to live in Him every single day!

Let’s pray, "Heavenly Father, I repent of the times that I am not actively being part of the Gospel. Please forgive me and fill me afresh so that I too can carry Your life into this broken world …" Amen!
