(Matthew 24:42) "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day on which your Lord will come.”

In this series, we're delving deeper into the teachings that Jesus left us to follow. The twelfth commandment leads us to our next focus: STAYING AWAKE AND PREPARED.

To wholeheartedly embrace this command, we must dive passionately into GOD, surrounded by His divine presence from start to finish, and the only way to do this is to journey with the Holy Spirit, embracing an ever-increasing, vibrant and dynamic spiritual awareness. This will then ignite a fervent commitment to a deep, trusting relationship with GOD, compelling us to remain steadfast in faith, liberated from the clutches of fearful and anxiety-driven actions.

Primarily, the verse deliberately discourages us from predicting Christ's return, especially when we feel that everything around us is going wrong in the world... Why? Because Jesus Himself told us a little earlier (Matthew 24:4)

“See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

So ... beyond personal spirituality, it calls for ethical responsibility and active engagement in the world, encouraging believers to keep addressing social injustices while remaining spiritually alert.

This passage lovingly illuminates the joy of nurturing a profound trust in GOD, encouraging us to look beyond all negativity and to stay rooted in faith, liberated from anxiety's weight. This beautiful path can only unfold as we walk with the Holy Spirit, embracing a tender and vibrant spiritual connection.

Let's pray, "Heavenly Father, help us to remain watchful and attentive, always prepared for Your intervening presence in our lives. Guide us to walk closely with the Holy Spirit, nurturing a deep trust and unwavering faith in You. Keep our hearts free from anxiety and focused on Your love and guidance. May we always stay rooted in Your truth, ready to embrace and share the joy and peace that comes from living in Your light." Amen!
