(Matthew 7:13) "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."
In this series, we're delving deeper into the teachings that Jesus left us to follow. The eighth commandment leads us to our next focus: SERVICE TO OTHERS ...
In Christian teachings, the "broad path that leads to destruction" refers to the way of living that is self-centred, focused on worldly desires, and contrary to spiritual and moral values. Service to others, on the other hand, is seen as following the "narrow path" that leads to life. This path involves surrendering your right to yourself to the Holy Spirit and living according to Jesus’ teachings, which include love, humility, and selflessness.
As such, choosing "the broad path that leads to destruction" encompasses far more than simply committing obvious sins; rather, it represents deliberately deciding on a comprehensive worldview and lifestyle orientation that systematically prioritises self over GOD, comfort over character development, and immediate gratification over eternal consequences!
"The broad path leading to destruction" promises pleasure and power, appealing to desires for autonomy, wealth, and status, and requires no surrender or transformation. This path even includes those who claim Christian identity but live lives ruled by desire rather than devotion. It is marked by self-centeredness, materialism, and hedonism, contradicting Jesus’ specific teachings on self-denial and obedience.
While the broad path offers fleeting satisfaction, it ultimately leads away from GOD to spiritual emptiness ... and eternal ruin.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, help me to choose the narrow gate that leads to life. Grant me the courage and strength to resist the allure of the broad path. Guide my steps and keep me steadfast in my faith. May I always seek Your wisdom and follow Your guidance." Amen!
