Hi Warren, this is what I have come to believe, although I am still in the process of getting rid of all the religious stuff and untruths I have believed for years.
It does say in the bible that Jesus has set us free, and it's for freedom Christ has set us free, and for years I puzzled about that because I did not see any Christian living that way, probably because no one truly dared to believe it.
It also says that somewhere that ALL God's thoughts towards us are GOOD and they are too numerous to count. But I was taught continuously that we were 'breaking God's heart, that our behaviour created a rift etc etc, but to truly believe that EVERYTHING has already been dealt with in Jesus, on the cross and we are resurrected with Him and we are truly loved unconditionally, that is truth which is very clearly in scripture and somehow missed or discouraged from believing it. But now I know better. His love is unconditional, His grace is limitless, His mercy is triumphant!
We are not failing, disappointing, forever doubting we are doing the right thing or pleasing - we are already completely restored through Jesus, we are Holy as He is holy, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (its all in the Scriptures), we are Sons (a prodigal son is still a son, the lost coin is still her coin, the lost sheep still belongs to the Shepherd).
For me, I am still in the process of renewing my mind, which takes place through communion, but also by starting to agree with how the Father sees me. Behaviour changes when responding to being loved and returning His love.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. Live loved, love living, live loving - it is what God said through someone else, but it has struck a deep chord in me.
