(Ephesians 2:8–10) Grace saves and then shapes us into good works; growth is the outworking of God’s saving gift.

Part 6: WHAT’S IN IT FOR US? - 10. Spiritual growth (practising grace shapes character over time).

Spiritual growth isn’t a one‑time fix; it’s a slow change as you choose Grace again and again. NB - You can't hog Grace either. When you receive God’s Grace and kindness, it means passing it on to others! It means forgiving, being patient, and displaying generous actions that reshape habits, emotions, and choices. Over months and years, those small choices become your character.

Why this matters

  • Identity: Grace reminds you who you are in Christ, not what you do, so failure doesn’t define you.
  • Resilience: A Grace‑shaped heart bounces back from mistakes without spiralling into shame.
  • Relational depth: Giving and receiving Grace makes real friendships and steady mentoring possible.

Practical steps

  • Daily smallness. Pick one tiny grace practice: forgive one irritation, speak one encouraging sentence, or give one unasked‑for kindness each day for 30 days. Patterns form from tiny repeats.
  • Confession + thanks. Each evening name one mistake and one thing you’re grateful for -own the fail and receive the Grace.
  • Scripture with a friend. Read one short passage weekly with a peer and talk about how it invites you to show Grace.
  • Practice boundaries kindly. Grace isn’t weakness—learn to say “no” with honesty and care so you don’t burn out.
  • Serve without scorekeeping. Do something helpful for someone and don’t expect credit; that trains humility.

Guardrails

  • Don’t use “Grace” as an excuse for avoidance or passivity- grace empowers change, not complacency.
  • Beware comparing progress to others; growth is personal and uneven.

Try this week: Each morning, choose one small grace action (a compliment, forgiveness, an extra text to check on someone). Each night, write one sentence owning a slip and one sentence thanking God for a mercy. After four weeks, notice which habits have stuck and how your reactions have softened.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, once again, I want - I CHOOSE to be like this ... Help me find my way back to serving AND STAYING with You, Lord." Amen!
