Part 5: THE MAGNIFICENCE OF GOD AND HIS DEITY - 13. The Glory of God in Creation and Mission (how creation reveals God and calls us to participate in his redemptive work).
Visit any Art Gallery showing early Christian works, and you will see artists portraying Christians with halos or shrouded in glory. Well, there is a radiant declaration all around us that both humbles and commissions: the world itself sings God’s Name, and in that song we find both delight and duty. The Glory of God in Creation and Mission means that the heavens and the earth reveal the Creator’s beauty and wisdom, and that this revelation calls us to join God in his work of renewal (Psalm 19:1; Genesis 1:1).
Creation Speaks of God: Every sunrise, forest, child’s laugh, and intricate cell bears a fingerprint of Divine goodness. Creation isn’t neutral scenery; it is a living proclamation that points beyond itself to the One who made it. When we read the world rightly, awe leads to worship, and curiosity turns into confession: there is a Designer, a Redeemer, and a purpose running through all things (Romans 1:20; Psalm 8,).
Mission Rooted in Creation: God’s sending is not merely rescue from a broken world but a call to heal, steward, and restore it. The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20) flows from the Creator’s heart for His image‑bearers and His world. Mission is therefore holistic: it proclaims the Gospel, cares for the poor, heals the sick, cultivates justice, and tends the created order - all signs that God’s Kingdom is coming.
Doctrinal seriousness: Creation’s groaning (Romans 8:19–22) shows distortion, not destiny. The present world is awaiting redemption; Christians are not to run away from a broken creation but to participate in its liberation. Our work: artistry, science, farming, and speaking up for, or working on behalf of, a person, group, or cause can be means by which God’s renewing Glory shines through ordinary life. How:
- Worship with wonder: let God's awesome creation lead you into praise - outdoors, in song, or even through silence.
- Practice faithful stewardship: reduce waste, care for your neighbourhood, champion sustainable practices.
- Serve the vulnerable: mission that honours creation also protects its poorest and most exposed people.
- Integrate word and deed: preach the Gospel and build the future - both proclaim and embody the advancing Kingdom.
Try this: this week, spend thirty minutes outside with purpose: notice God’s goodness, pray for a local need, and pick up one piece of litter or support a community project. Let tangible care follow your worship.
