(Exodus 15:26) ” I am the Lord who heals you.”

Part 3: WE MAY LET GO... BUT GOD NEVER WILL — 7. Communion and sacraments (visible signs Christ uses to convey grace, nourish faith, and unite the community)

TESTIMONY: I’d decided that I couldn't just sit on a pew anymore and offered my services to the welcome group at the main door.

It was a cold day as I waited for the last of the stragglers to come, and as I stood outside enjoying the worship, I noticed a young woman approaching the church that we hadn’t seen for a while. I was preparing myself to greet her, but as she got close, she suddenly stopped, looked up, down, and around, turned on her heel, and went back the way she came.

I was thinking that she must have forgotten to lock the door or something when I felt the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit and ran after her—she was very (very) angry and upset and poured it all out on me!

She was going through breast cancer, the treatment was horrible, nothing was helping, she was sick of it all, life was lousy, no one was helping her, everyone was a hypocrite …

We walked round and around town for an age, and I truly couldn’t get a word in. When we finally stopped, I looked up, and we were back at the Church. As I looked, the sliding doors parted, and a man barged out, his face a mask of anger and his demeanour told me to get out of his way! As he barged past us, she lunged out and grabbed him by the arm—this time, he gave her both barrels!

He was going through a lousy time, life was horrible, nothing was helping, he was sick of it all, everyone was a hypocrite …

Nonplussed, she gently stared into his face for a long time. Then, without a word, they sat down together on the Church steps and wept into each other’s arms. At some unknown signal, they both got up and, arm in arm, walked back into the Church just in time for the communion service. I watched them both go up together.

Sometimes, we don’t actually get to ‘see’ The Miracle as much as ‘know’ that it’s happened. I never did find out what had transpired between them. I remember seeing them both later laughing and interacting in their respective friendship groups. So, I just thanked GOD and left them at Peace in His Awesome care.

Let’s pray. "Heavenly Father, I just love it when You step in and let the Holy Spirit take over and sort out all our messes." Amen!
