(Acts 10:34) "Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. ”

Here is the much-awaited second part to yesterday's message from John Hagee:

BIBLICAL IGNORANCE ABOUT WOMEN IN MINISTRY—Two lies that the Church tell women today. (2) Women must not preach or teach to a man in a Church setting...!

Some base this teaching on two particular Bible verses, 1 Timothy, "Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet." and 1 Corinthians 14:34, "The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church."

I will tell you why that happened ... Paul was an Orthodox Jew speaking to Jewish people and their conduct at the Synagogue. Factually, he was having trouble with women speaking out because of this. Then, and now, Orthodox Synagogues have a curtain that runs the length of the middle aisle. The women are on one side and all the men on the other. What was happening was that Paul (or the Rabbi) was speaking, the women were not picking up on what was being preached, and they started shouting to their husbands through the curtain, "... What does he mean by that?"

Paul was simply saying, "Stop that! Go home and let your husband explain that to you!"

This is an honest answer. To say that a woman in the 21st Century may not preach or teach the Word of God simply because of Orthodox custom is just Biblical ignorance. You only need to do minimal research to see that God has favoured women to be world-shakers throughout history!

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, You have shown us that You show no partiality. Help us likewise to reflect Your impartial love in our hearts and actions. Remove prejudice, pride, and fear; give us eyes to see every person as made in Your image and worthy of dignity. Teach us to welcome others into Your family with humility and grace, to listen more than we judge, and to serve without favouritism. Fill our communities with unity that mirrors Christ’s reconciling love." Amen!
