(Psalm 34:18) "The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

This series is about how GOD is believed to communicate with us all. (9) GOD's Presence in Grief: Defined as the deep emotional pain and sorrow experienced after a significant loss.

Grief, as an emotion, isn't inherently bad for a Christian - it's a natural response to trauma and part of the human experience. However, if you go through it alone, it can have horrible consequences because:

  1. Testing of Faith: Grief may lead to questioning one's faith or understanding of GOD's plan.
  2. IsolationIt can drag you deep into despair, making it harder to connect with anyone.
  3. Emotional StrainProlonged grief can lead to emotional and spiritual exhaustion.
  4. Struggle with HopeLeft untreated, it may challenge one's sense of hope and trust in GOD's promises.

It is incredibly easy to back away from somebody's problem by flippantly telling them, "In the Name of Jesus, be healed. Now go find comfort in the Scriptures." However, it is in times of grief that people don't need direction as much as they want Jesus with skin on!

NB - In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus explains, "When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart." (Matthew 13:19). This shows us that a lack of understanding of what is happening can lead to falling away.

Using the teaching that Jesus taught us in Matthew 25:40, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me,' we see the importance of serving others as a reflection of our service to Christ. It is therefore the natural duty of Christians to offer our all in support of those experiencing the pain of grief, by lovingly and prayerfully seeking GOD's Consoling Wisdom for them.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, thank You for being near to us when we're brokenhearted. In moments of pain and sorrow, comfort us with Your Presence. Heal our wounded spirits and remind us that You are always with us, offering Hope and Strength and Guidance." Amen!
