(Joel 2:28) “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions."
This series is about how GOD is believed to communicate with us all. (7). Dreams & Visions: Sometimes GOD communicates with us through imagery or dreams.
Joel 2:28 is a key prophecy where GOD promises to pour out His Spirit on all people, breaking age, gender, and class boundaries. This shifted spiritual access from exclusive to inclusive was fulfilled at Pentecost. We may ask, "But why?"
NB - You'll find many stories online about Jesus appearing, even to non-believers, in their dreams. GOD uses dreams and visions to communicate because they go beyond language and culture—engaging our imagination and emotions! These stories provide a personal, vivid link to Divine messages, offering guidance, encouragement, and insight in powerful ways.
Universal Spirit Outpouring: Joel 2:28 promises that GOD will pour out His Spirit on everyone—sons, daughters, young, and old—shattering social boundaries. It makes spiritual gifts accessible to us all, not just a select few!
Pentecostal Fulfilment: This was when the apostles experienced the Spirit through wind and fire, enabling them to speak in different tongues (languages). Peter cited Joel at the time, marking the Church's explosive beginning that first day with 3,000 conversions.
Current and Future Perspectives: Some believe it ended with the apostles, and I don't need to enter that argument. Personally, I can sincerely attest that Joel's prophecy is still alive and active in us today, as we see many spiritual gifts very much in action, because it shows how GOD is empowering us to connect with everyone.
Significance for Believers: The prophecy emphasises that spiritual empowerment is for ALL, not just an elite few. It encourages us, as believers, to expect Divine communication through prophecy, dreams, and visions.
Joel 2:28 reframes access to GOD’s Spirit from exclusive to universal, empowering all believers for communion with GOD and thereafter service to others. It remains a source of inspiration for Christians worldwide.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, I ask for Your Holy Spirit to be poured out on me just as You promised in Joel 2:28. Break through the boundaries I have erected in my heart, and fill me with the Divine Gifts You want me to bestow on others. Let me experience Your presence and be empowered to serve and connect with You more deeply." Amen!
