(Proverbs 3:5) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
This series is about how GOD is believed to communicate with us all. (4). Circumstances: Life events that reveal GOD's direction or purpose.
GOD desires us to believe, know, and trust Him. His direction will often be revealed through unexpected opportunities and challenges. We have to remain aware of the Holy Spirit's Presence, through inner peace or discomfort, and always make sure that whatever happens aligns with scripture.
"I was in the Spirit and was looking out from the battlements of our long-besieged city, to what seemed to me to be thousands upon thousands of enemy troops gathered outside our walls, ready to attack us!
Once again, I heard myself crying out to the Lord, “Why don't You come and rescue us from this evil horde!"
At that point, the Scripture in Isaiah 17:14 came to my mind, "At evening time, behold, terror! (because the enemy has all but been victorious), but before the morning, they [the terrorising enemy] are not." The startling fulfilment of this prophecy is to be found in Isaiah 37:36... Just when an overwhelming victory by the Assyrian Sennacherib seemed inevitable, during a single night, 185,000 of his army died, and Judah was spared.The Holy Spirit then assured me that GOD, in His wonderful Grace, hadn’t left us in this walled-up city to die - but rather, His Plan was for us to remain here and be PROTECTED while He drew out the FULL AMOUNT of the enemy against us!
I still didn’t understand and, like a frightened child, anxiously questioned the Lord, “… but why do you have to allow all this? Why don't you just don't send down Holy fire? Or why not destroy them while they're still coming up from whatever hellhole they were hiding in! Or even better, why not destroy them even BEFORE they’ve even set off - while the plan to invade us is still brewing in their evil hearts?”
In response to my frustration, the Holy Spirit provided a vivid illustration:
"Imagine a school bully rallying others to join in intimidating someone. Initially, the onlookers might not be invested, but if they fail to stand up to him themselves and instead side with the bully out of fear of being targeted themselves, they will face the lasting consequences of their actions."
GOD's overall Message through His Christ is always about mercy. He extends it to everyone until they fully commit to wrongdoing, wholeheartedly embracing the path of evil. Once they cross that line, they're accountable - unless that is, they choose to repent!
Mercy is always about giving people a chance to turn back before it's too late.
GOD, in His Grace, allowed these massive armies to gather against us. In His Wisdom, He even gave them the time they needed to fully assemble. Then, on the final night—after they fully believed in their forthcoming victory, had feasted and prepared for the next day's violence—GOD saw they wouldn't repent and sent His angel to stop them.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, help me to be attuned to the circumstances that reveal Your direction and purpose for my life. Grant me wisdom to recognise Your hand in unexpected opportunities and challenges. Fill my heart with peace where there is alignment, and unease where there is not. May the counsel of others and the truths in Your Word confirm Your will for me. Lead me through prayerful reflection, and strengthen my trust in Your perfect plan." Amen!
