(Proverbs 3:5) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

This series is about how GOD is believed to communicate with us all. (4). Circumstances: Life events that reveal GOD's direction or purpose.

GOD desires us to believe, know, and trust Him. His direction will often be revealed through unexpected opportunities and challenges. We have to remain aware of the Holy Spirit's Presence, through inner peace or discomfort, and always make sure that whatever happens aligns with scripture.

"You can’t keep putting this off," my wife said with urgency. "You need to meet with the bank to negotiate our debt and figure out how we’re going to afford moving 250 miles south to get to the Bible College!"
NB - Our indebtedness to the Bank in 1996 was approximately £35,000! That's DOUBLE today!
I sighed and finally scheduled a meeting with the bank manager. When I arrived, he remarked with disdain, "If you're here to beg, a phone call would have sufficed. I'd have given you the same answer and saved you the trip!"
I felt the urge to respond in kind. Equally harsh words were already forming on my lips when I sensed the Lord's hand gently holding me back. Instead of lashing out, I calmly said, "Could I please have just a few minutes of your time?"
With a heavy sigh and a resigned expression, he gestured theatrically for me to enter his office. Once seated, I felt the Lord urging me to share my testimony with the bank manager. I drew back in shock!
I was still wondering if I'd heard the Lord correctly when the Bank manager said impatiently, tapping his watch, "So...? What do you want me to hear that you think could remotely change the situation?” I took a deep breath inwards and exhaled on a prayer of help, and began to give him my testimony. After I had concluded, and after what seemed like the longest of times, he sighed audibly and said, "Let me get this straight, you want to go to Bible College, and take all your family?" "Yes, sir. I do." "You have somehow sold your house in a recessionary market and have managed to avoid the costs of an Estate Agent?" "Yes, sir. We have." "OK..." he trailed off, reviewing our file of papers. "How do you plan on repaying the Bank your current debt of £35,000?" I gulped and said, "I have no plan, sir. As I won't have an income."
Finally, he spoke. "I can't decide if you're the most convincing con man I have ever encountered or if you're genuine...! Your story is incredible... enough to make me believe you might be telling the truth!"
"I have decided that I will cancel your indebtedness to this bank, on one condition.” Through a mouth as dry as the desert sand, I managed to croak, "What would that be, sir?"
"Only that you pray for me!"

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, help me to be attuned to the circumstances that reveal Your direction and purpose for my life. Grant me wisdom to recognise Your hand in unexpected opportunities and challenges. Fill my heart with peace where there is alignment, and unease where there is not. May the counsel of others and the truths in Your Word confirm Your will for me. Lead me through prayerful reflection, and strengthen my trust in Your perfect plan." Amen!
