(Luke 13:3) [Jesus speaking] "...unless you repent, you too will all perish."

In this series, we're delving deeper into the teachings Jesus left us. The third commandment leads us to our next focus: REPENTANCE ... our sister Jo has sent this fabulous explanation for us:

In repentance, there is freedom, not shame. We don’t ask for forgiveness for the deep things because we are ashamed… the world makes us feel that way; God doesn’t! When we repent, he rejoices because it means we’re coming closer to him. Repentance isn’t about telling our innermost darkest secret to another human. It’s about saying to God I’m sorry and I turn from my sin because I realise it’s why Jesus had to die on the cross. My transgressions put him there, and God still chose to set me free. I repent out of thanksgiving and remembrance, not out of shame.
Jesus prayed this for all believers. (John 17:24) “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

In repentance, God says Come and be with Jesus in all his glory. Out of darkness into light. Out of sadness into joy. Out of prison into liberty. It’s not about “I shouldn’t have done it in the first place” or “I’ve made my bed so I’ll have to lie in it”. If that was the case, what was the point of Jesus’ death?
Sit with God. Say you’re Sorry… God loves you. Jesus took your shame, so pick up your bed and walk - in freedom. Jo xxx

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, you offered a new path to the woman caught in adultery, and I ask you to do the same for me. In a world that is quick to judge, help me to be a reflection of your heart—one that restores, not destroys. Give me the strength to overcome my own temptations and to live a life free from the weight of my past mistakes." Amen!!
