(2 Chronicles 7:14) "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

In this series, we're delving deeper into the teachings Jesus left us. The third commandment leads us to our next focus: REPENTANCE ... ever a problematic subject.

Repentance is the act of recognising and feeling sincere remorse for past wrongdoings or sins, accompanied by a commitment to change one's behaviour and make amends. It involves a genuine desire to turn away from negative actions and seek improvement.

Michael Barling, one of our tutors at Bible College, once put it this way ... "You're zooming down the motorway in your car, ignoring all the speed limits, when all of a sudden you notice blue flashing lights in your rear view mirror. You look at the speedometer and you're doing 100 mph in a 70 zone!

Suddenly, you're covered in remorse!
Suddenly you're repentant!
Suddenly, you're begging GOD to help you!

"The thing is," he said, "You wouldn't have needed to repent if you had been observing the law...!"

"And it doesn't end there either. There is also the 'law of the mouth', which refers to biblical principles regarding speech and conduct. In Scripture, there are numerous teachings about the power and importance of words. For example: (Proverbs 18:21) "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."

Lots to think on Church ... 😪

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we come before You, Your people who are called by Your name, and we humble ourselves, recognising our need for You. We repent of every sin, known and unknown, and ask for Your forgiveness and restoration. Create in us clean hearts that desire Your will above our own. We humble ourselves and pray, seeking Your face and turning from our wicked ways. We confess our unfaithfulness in both word and deed. As we seek You, rearrange our priorities so that You are first. Thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for the promise in Your word that when we humbly turn to You, You will hear us from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land. We ask that You let our family be a light to this dark world. We give You all the praise, honour, and glory in the name of Jesus Christ." Amen!!
