(1 John 4:19) [ESV] "We love because he first loved us." [Message] "We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first."
In this upcoming series, we're going to take a closer look at the teachings Jesus left us to follow. We begin by reviewing the first and most crucial element: LOVING GOD.
I've received two wonderful responses so far. Here's the first from Sally Ann:
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments." (John 14:15) So obedience... it is so, so important, because it demonstrates our love for Him by choosing NOT to fall into sin. Because we have the Holy Spirit, we hear His Voice (John 10:27), so we need to be diligent to obey both the Logos' commands and the Rhema Word.
He told me to write a book about my life and how He redeemed me back in 2008. It's now almost 2026, and I've still only written the first page!
Delayed obedience is disobedience!
By dragging my feet, I am now answerable to God for all the ways He COULD have used the book - or wanted to use it! Because he told me when to write it and because I have delayed, I will find out the unfortunate consequences of that disobedience when I meet Him in Glory.
So if you hear His voice, don't harden your heart but obey instantly (Hebrews 3:15). It is the right thing to do, and HE IS WORTHY of our total love and total obedience to what He commands.

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, I pray that I may not harden my heart against Your requests today, but instead, truly obey Your voice when You speak to me. Give me the courage and strength to respond with faith and obedience when I hear Your call.
Help me to be vigilant against the temptation to become complacent or distracted by fear, or worldly things, so that I can stay connected to You. Thank you for Jesus, who always speaks life-giving words of love." Amen!
