(Psalm 91:14) "Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name."
This last series was all about how GOD planned to deal with the "sin that so easily besets us" (Hebrews 12:1). Each day, we read testimonies of how Jesus stands in the gap to help us come out from under the enslavement of sin through the provision of His Son, Jesus.
In her most excellent series, ‘The Chronicles of Brothers’ (The Fall of Lucifer), Wendy Alec, the author, captured it beautifully when she wrote that Lucifer, cast down to Earth, screamed up at GOD with the threat, “I will destroy all that You love…!”
So, how do we break free from the bondage of sin—or, as our sister Rita put it succinctly, reclaim our true identities as sons and daughters of the Living God? Well, our brother John Smith seems to have captured the solution perfectly when he said, “We can't truly be free until the day we give in and choose Jesus over our sin …!” Or as our sister Jo encapsulates it, "Loving each other, not with certainty—but with a trust in our Father so deep that we are even prepared to die because we believe that we are loved."
Boil all the testimonies down, and the common denominator is that we seem to come back to choices …
Before I conclude, this reminds me of the young Christian girl being bullied for her faith at high School. One Christmas, the girls ganged up on her because she didn't want to come to the Christmas party. The ring leader got right up in her face and said, "What's up, Bible basher? Are you afraid your father might hurt you?" The Christian stood her ground at the mocking attack and replied, "No, quite the opposite. I'm afraid that in joining you, I just might hurt my father!"
As this series wraps up, let's empty our hands and hearts as we stand again at the timeless crossroads. The paths are clearly marked:
A) Continue worrying, who are you to believe God will help?
B) Live life as you wish, do just enough to appease your religion.
C) You’ve prayed the sinner’s prayer, so live your life as if it’s solely yours.
D) Choose Jesus, follow Him and gain true and eternal Life. Surrender everything, all your worries, and let Him be the Lord of all you have. He won't (can't) let you down.
P.S. Our friend Tina was just now talking with my wife, and she said, "I met a lovely lady while I was in the hospital, and one thing led to another, and I told her about my faith in Jesus. We've been meeting up a lot since then, and today she told me, "I don't know what it is, but whenever we meet, I feel better..." Wisdom, and knowledge are excellent, but our focus should be on just loving people. The Gospel is what the Gospel is, Jesus is drawing all people unto Himself." (John 12:32)

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, I bring what's left of my life to you with raw honesty. You alone know my fears, doubts, hopes, and confusion. I ask You for wisdom and clarity, and the ability to listen and hear You." Amen!
