(2 Peter 2:19) "For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.”

Keep the tissues to hand as you read the second part of Sally Ann's testimony ...

"... What I want to conclude with is GOD's Faithfulness. Throughout my testimony, I can state that I 'nearly' died so many times! My first overdose came when I was working as a nurse. A patient died, and I got access to the unused opiate drugs left in a syringe. An opportunity presented itself to get away with taking them because security was lax. I have no idea what was in the syringe, but someone found me, and all I remember was waking up in an Ambulance in a terrible state! This was followed by yet another severe overdose. Then there was a severe car crash where I was driving well under the influence and nearly died. This was followed by more overdoses! The final attempt on my life was when my second husband had just bought some more alcohol and was about to consume it on a park bench, when the thought came into his head, "You have to go home." This went on for a few minutes until he heard a voice shout, "YOU HAVE TO GO HOME NOW!" He arrived to find me comatose and literally blue! Apparently, I had a very faint pulse, and so he started shaking me and slapping me with cold, wet towels which, somehow brought me back around! I just remember him saying - "YOU WERE DEAD!
NB - because of the culture at the time, no one in my drug world would ever call an ambulance for an overdosed victim, as they feared the Police response, and the subsequent Housing Association problems! As such, if you were found to have overdosed in someone's flat, people would drag you outside and leave you on the street or in a park so as not to get the blame. No one cares much today about the consequences of opiate drug use because it's positively encouraged by pharmaceutical companies and doctors. In fact, half the population is addicted to prescription opiates given out freely, especially older people...!

Now that I am walking with the Lord, I can look back and recount around 20 people that I knew who have all died from all the stuff I was addicted to! All I can say is that maybe someone was not judging me, but rather interceding for me...!

(Romans 9:15): “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”Thank You Jesus."

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, I praise and thank You that You have shown mercy to me. Thank You that by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ, I have been made a new creation in Him. Lord, I ask for the same mercy to be granted to those You have placed on my heart (...pause here and let the Holy Sprit bring someone to mind). May Your mercy speak for them and go ahead of them from today. Lord, thank You for Your unfailing mercy and boundless compassion. Help me to recognise these gifts not only in my life but also in the lives of others. Teach me to offer the same grace to those around me, as You have generously extended to me." Amen!
