(Deuteronomy 14:2) "You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure."
(Leviticus 20:26) "You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own.
It should never be pride, arrogance or even presumption that leads us to minister. It should be through pure humility. It should be the call of the Spirit, because it is the Spirit's work in conviction, reminding us that we have been "Set apart for such a time as this." (Esther 4:14).
So, when we 'decide' to believe it's not because we are any more 'special' than anyone else, it is because we know we are at the end of ourselves, and that we have nowhere else to go, and at that point He can step in! Drawing us out and transforming our naturally timid hearts into faithful believing.
I saw a quote attributed to John Owen that expressed it this way: "When the Holy Spirit sanctifies believers, He accomplishes a complete work within them. He instils in their minds, wills, and hearts a gracious, supernatural principle that fills them with a holy desire to live for God. The essence of holiness resides in this truth. This is the new creation."
Jesus showed us how to live life this way, and told us, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Mathew 6:33)

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Wisdom and Grace. I come before You with a heart that seeks Your Kingdom and Your Righteousness above everything else. Please help me to prioritise my life in a way that truly honours You and puts You first in all that I do. I trust in Your provision, knowing that as I seek You, You will meet all my needs." Amen!
