(Malachi 2:13) "You cover the Lord's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favour from your hand. But you say, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord was witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the Lord, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.”
Yesterday got me thinking about how easy it is for the devil to split up husbands and wives and (by definition) whole families...!
Everything I researched (and there's far too much to list here) shows that GOD hates divorce because of the pain and hardship it causes to the family unit, which He made to follow after him and his ways.
Essentially, Jesus teaches that divorce should be a last resort, with a focus on reconciliation and forgiveness within marriage. He encourages couples to work through challenges and seek restoration in their relationship, rather than resorting to divorce.
However, Jesus' primary exception to the permanence of marriage refers explicitly to "sexual immorality" (often translated from the Greek term "porneia"). This exception emphasises that marital unfaithfulness could be a valid reason for divorce, contrasting with reasons like boredom or other personal grievances.

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, Only You can heal and sustain [this couple] now. Only You can lead and guide [them] through this mess. Gracious deliverer, help [them] believe you're close to [their] broken hearts, and are with [them] in this pain. Thank you for your love. The loss of the lasting love [they] had hoped for in [their] marriage has left them broken and disappointed. Help [them] to turn to You and trust in Your redeeming love. For you say, "The mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then My faithful love for you will remain." Amen!
