(Luke 9:23) "And He [Jesus] was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross daily [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]."
We're living in a time when "me first" seems to dominate every sphere... "my rights," "my needs," "my desires," my, my, (Oh me, Oh my...)!
Unfortunately for many of us, as the Scripture above clearly demonstrates, Jesus (the one we're meant to be following), is moving in the totally opposite direction!
Time to wake up Church ...!

Let us pray, "Heavenly Father, thank you for the invitation to follow you. Your word calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow you. I ask for the strength and courage to live out these commands. Please help me to recognise and let go of anything that hinders my relationship with you. Grant me the grace to embrace the challenges and sacrifices that come with following you, knowing that in losing myself, I will truly find myself in you. May my life be a testament to your love and a reflection of your grace." Amen!
